What is tin-plated steel?

Tin-plated steel is a type of cold rolled metal with a layer of tin which plated on the surface of the material. It has been coated on both sides by electrodeposition. Tin coated sheet is used to make a wide variety of parts, including deep-drawn oil filter shells, electronic shields and bakeware.

The tin coat acts as a barrier that prevents water and air from corroding or otherwise damaging the surface of the steel.

What is tin plating used for?

Tin plating is widely used for electroplating applications in a range of industries including electronics, aerospace, jewellery manufacture, but perhaps the most common application for tin plating solution is the tin cans that are widely used for storing food products.

What is the difference between tinplate and TFS?

Tinplate is a thin steel sheet coated with tin. TFS is electrolytic chrome-plated steel, and there is a fundamental difference between the two in terms of material. Galvanized sheet has a beautiful metallic luster and excellent corrosion resistance, weldability, and weldability. TFS has excellent paintability and paint adhesion.

What is tin plated steel made of?

Precautions for tin-plated steel

1. When using tin-plated steel, care should be taken to avoid direct contact with corrosive substances such as strong acids and strong alkalis to avoid damaging the tin-plated layer.

2. The welding process of tin-plated steel should follow the corresponding welding process specifications to ensure the welding quality and the integrity of the tin-plated layer.

3. When cleaning tin-plated steel plates, do not use irritating cleaning agents, and use mild cleaning agents.

4. In addition to not being able to contact strong acids and alkalis, be careful not to come into direct contact with other metals in a humid environment.

Tinplating on steel is a complex process where rolled and annealed steel sheets are cleaned with acid to remove rust, grease, or oil from the surface.

Basically, all manufacturers use the following steps to produce galvanized sheets:

• Selection of steel, select suitable steel as the substrate and perform pretreatment such as cleaning and rust removal.
